The Chinese Gardens Lake is located west of Fort Worden, in Pt. Townsend, Washington. I took a photograph and did a small watercolor on site of the retreating fog bank over the Straights of Juan de Fuca. This painting is larger, and shows the detail of the succulent plants along the shoreline. This is the site of Chinese late 1800's and early 1900's truck gardens that served the nearby fort, and Pt Townsend to the southeast. The lake surface was like a mirror, and gulls, crows, ravens were calling, while swallows swooped over the lake surface, catching insects. A truly memorable morning! (13.5" x 20.5") $950.
